i am running a k7s5a mobo and a 80 gb ata 133 hdd(7200 rpm)and heres the problem
when i booted my machine tonite it was only running at 4mb/sec under the drive test in vopt,so i assumed it was a dma problem.after looking around a bit i just simply retored my comp seeing as how i had a point form earlier that morning.this seemed to fix the problem.

thani started diging and when i go into my device manager it says the drive is running in dma2 but the setting in my bios says it is running in dma5(which it should)
my question is this, how do i get my hdd running at dma mode 5 instead of 2,i have always thot my hdd to be a little slow but shrugged it off as the board doesnt support ata 133 only ata 100. but now that i have found this out i was wondering how why where i enable it to dma5,the bios os set at dma5 and i cant find another place to chnge these settings, thank you in advance.all help greatly appreciated

Are you sure you have an 80 conductor IDE cable?

i assume so coz im using the one that came with the drive.....which was bought brand new just a few months ago.
its odd coz in bios it is 100% at dma 5 but in device manager still stuk on 2..:(
its transfers at about 20 mb a sec or so under drive test in vopt and imo thats alittle slow isnt it?i am going to try switching it around(ide channels) and a new cable to see wtf
:(
thanks for the reply tho
