Name: Simon
Recently I got a virus - "Trojan Horse Downloader.Crypter A" which my Av software picked up and healed.
However the Win XP system restore function meant it kept reappearing, each time AVG healed it.
Previously I was using AVG 6.0 which was free to non commercial users but given the troubles I upgraded it to the 7.0 Professional version for peace of mind.
However as I removed the old version I also deleted its virus vault and since then on boot up my PC now runs an error message saying it cannot find a file:
dlldmt.exe in C:\WINDOWS\System32
...and that I should remove the reference to it in the registry if it no longer exists.
The questions!!:
*Anyone know of this virus? (Can't find anything about it on the web)
*Anyone know what this dlldmt.exe file is or does? (Again, can't find out what it is or what it does but my PC seems to run much slower now, although that could be the settings in the new AVG)
*Anyone know how I can fix this problem?!!
Much obliged
S

If you go to start-run
type in msconfig.
select the startup tab
uncheck the box that calles out that file
so it stops trying to load at startup.Download and try running a program like AdAware or Pest Patrol to see if you have any type of spyware running.
have not heard of dlldmt.exe either, I know that it is not in my list of files so it is could be unique to the old version of AVG. Not sure.

I understand that some av progs cannot delete/quarantine a virus/worm which is in the XP restore files. To get rid of this virus/worm in restore files you can disable the restore function then reboot. This deletes all old restore points (don't forget to re-enable it). If you still have problems then go to

and follow the instructions
Good luck
