Hello all. I have windows XP home edition and have missing files for somethings but really they are there. So they are corupted or old versions so I download a new one and when I go to extract it into the folder it either says file is in use and I can't do anything else or I use regsvr32 but when I do that it says the file was loaded but the DLLRegisterServer entry point was not found. This file cannot be registered. So how can I put new dlls in my computer and register them properly? I would appreacite any help/suggestions very much. So thanks in advance and have a good one.

MiKe, You don't need to download anything to run System File Checker. You will need your original Windows XP CD though. Follow the instructions below to run it.

You can use the automated System File Checker:
1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. Type: sfc /scannow
3. Click OK. The Windows File Protection dialog box appears and a system scan begins. You may have to insert your Windows installation CD.
4. Follow the prompts.

Note: There must be a space between sfc and the / as shown in 2. above.

MiKe, Evidently System File Checker didn't find any corrupted or missing files. What are the names of the files with the extension (e.g., setup.exe, rundll32.dll, etc.) that you were trying to replace? They may not even be Windows files but may belong to some other program you have installed.

MiKe, Did you mean mspdb60.dll instead of mspd60.dll? The info on that file from the Microsoft DLL Database is below.

FILE INFORMATION:

Name: mspdb60.dll
Description: Microsoft (R) Program Database
Version: 6.0.8168.0
DLLSelfRegister: No

PRODUCTS CONTAINING THIS VERSION:
PRODUCT SIZE MOD DATE CAB/IEXPRESS RELATIVE PATH
Office 2000 Developer 180,224 11/3/1998 \pfiles\common\msshared\vba\vba6
Visual Basic 6.0 180,276 6/16/1998 \disk 1\vb98
Visual C++ 6.0 180,276 6/16/1998 \common\msdev98\bin
Visual Studio 6.0 180,276 6/16/1998 \disk1\vb98
Visual Studio 6.0 180,276 6/16/1998 \disk1\common\msdev98\bin

Evidently it's part of the Visual Basic 6 program and I don't have it on my Windows XP SP1 Home Edition system and so I don't know where it belongs. Maybe reposting and starting a new thread someone may be able to come up with a solution.
