Can anyone tell me what redundant dll files mean? because that came up on my pc the other day.

redundant means "not needed anymore"
and .dll files are system files that contain the functions your programs can use.

I'm guessing you got a "Redundant dlls" message after uninstalling a program. Some programs have custom-built dll files that are open to be used by other programs. Those are called shared dll files, or common files. It's better to just leave them on your computer in case some other program still uses the file. So, just ignore the message (unless you get the message all the time, and it does become a problem).
