mediaacck.exe is adware/spyware from windupdates...run ad-aware, spybot, MS AntiSpyware, and one of them should remove it and other spyware on your machine and the reg entries and fix your problem....

Spyware:

Maybe see if it is on the Startup tab in msconfig, so you can uncheck it.
Start,
Run, then type

msconfig

May be able to do msconfig in Windows
Safe-Mode. This option uses a minimal
set of device drivers and services to
start Windows. Hold down F8 during boot.

Useing adaware or other malware/spyware removal utillities DO NOT remove important documents/files on your system. Some files/programs may fail to open because the adware had attached itself to these and when removed damaged them...but is not the fault of the utillity itself but of that malware/spyware. The problems are generally easy to fix/repair and doesn't happen that much any more because the utillities will prevent it from happening if possible and will notify you that it was not fixed and you must do something else.
download these and update them and then run them. They are free and safe to use and should be used regularly.

Agreed to above message.

Adaware will not remove anything important. What it will remove is trojan programs that the user has downloaded from the net. They will be programs promising to do one thing but infact will be something else far more sinister in disguise.

3 things that are a MUST HAVE on your pc. A good reputable anti-virus program such as Norton or Pc-Cillin. Spyware detection software and a FIREWALL. If you plan on netbanking I wouldn't go without any of these because your pc will be very vulnerable otherwise.

Remember to disable windows restore if you have just cleaned a virus/trojan from your pc. Otherwise you may find that the virus/trojan may re-appear.

I cleaned TIB from my pc using both ADAWARE and SPYBOT, Then I dissabled System Restore and rebooted my pc. All traces were removed and the pc is up and running well. If you follow this guide line you will have a very high success rate in removing adware and malaware trojans from your computer.

cheers
Sandra.
