Your PC is infected with a Trojan. Was your AVG Antivirus updated with current virus definitions? Please Run the following and your PC may need a lot more at times than just one Antivirus check.

There have been cases where only a Reformat and fresh Reinstall cured some of these nasty ones.

First, run one or both of these online Antivirus scanners
1. HouseCall Scan Now

Or

2. Panda ActiveScan

Next run spyware removers:
www.trojanscan.com

Ad-Aware SE Personal Edition 1.06
SpyBot Search & Destroy
M$ Antispyware Beta

Can't get on line to run any of the scans you suggest.
Had trojan 1.5 put AVG put it in virus vault. AVG, ADAWARE did 25 minute scan of whole system and said it was clean?
Have backed up all files, pictures etc, if I have to reinstall, will it wipe these all off the computer so I have to put it all back in again?

If you feel your system is free from Trojans with a good Virus check with current AVG, try this:

1. In
Safe Mode
remove all the modem drivers, and then restart the computer.

Windows will redetect the modem. Install the Drivers using Modem Driver disk from the Modem Manufacturer tech support or from PC manufacturer's site as the case may be . Keep Modem Driver ready before starting the troubleshoot.
2. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
3. Click Add or Remove Programs.
4. Click any incompatible software, for example, Palm Desktop and Synchronization
5. Click Change/Remove, and then follow the steps to remove the software.
Return for more help if needed with details of troubleshoot already performed.

Post back with details of troubleshoot already done if you need further help or fixed the problem.
Good luck.

Hi, Have tried removing the modem and restarting the computer, then it finds the hardware again and reinstalls itself. Is this the same as removing the drivers?

Did u provide the Modem Driver Disc when Windows Tried to Install or was that Hardware discovery and Windows automatically installing own Drivers?
