Hi.

I'm going to buy a dual layer 16x LG dvd burner very soon that I saw at a computer shop (because at the moment I only have a cd burner).

i was wondering, is 256MB worth of RAM enough to smoothly burn a DVD? Or will my system become very slow and 'jumpy'?

Any ideas? If I do have to upgrade the ram, I have 3 slots in total (with one filled with a 256MB stick). What would you recomend upgrading to? 512? 768? I 'heard' that with RAM it is better to have three 256 sticks instead of one 256 and one 512, because the larger the slower? I don't know... Just hoping you guys could help me out.

Thanks,
Michael.

Certainly upgrade to 512mb. That's enough normal use. If you intend doing video-editing or cad then more might be useful.
About dual layer DVD just check on availability and price of the media. Even the specialist disk shop I frequest doesn't stock it.

"because the larger the slower?"

No way. Size does not affect speed.

If you plan on burning DVD's I'd advise u get at least another stick of 256, but if you have the cash get the 512 mb stick. It's only gonna help you out in the long run really.
