When I launch DivX Player 2.0 Alpha, CPU Usage shows 100% and when I quits DivX Player the CPU usage keep on showing 100% slow down my computer.

I suggest U use another player.
bsplayer radlight zoomplayer
there are lots of them, can easily be found via www.google.com
but i would go with bsplayer

Unfortunately, Media Player does the same thing unless you go back to MPlayer 6.4. The ap "phones home" or at least tries to. Hard to find 6.4 -- it's on the Win9x CDs, however.

MOUAHAHAH mplayer 6.4 isn't anywere near you!
check this out, mplayer 6.4 IS ON windows xp installation... you dont have to find it..
i dont know why... but just try this : goto start -> run... and then type : mplayer
tada!!!!!!!! ... mplayer 6.4 for XP...
i think it's a back up for those who try "not to install" wmplayer 8 with XP...
