I have several .avi files that are div 3 that don't play in WMP9. I've checked and I have all the updates. BTW, it does play in AVI Preview software. I've tried different codex but to no avail. Any ideas? Thanks.

Hi, isn't Div 3 divx encododed files? If so, you need a player that can play divx files, which Windows Media Player cannot. Here is a warning, unless you plan to purchase the software, do not downlaod the free version of Divx Player, it is spyware galore, namely Gator, which is horrid to get all of it out of your system.

If you need a player that can use Divx, try a player called "Video Lan". It is a small download, does not have a lot of extra features that are not needed, and, best of all, it's free to use and spyware-free.

You can play DiVx in windows media player, all you have to do is install the original DiVx codec. 3.11 Alpha. I have no troubles playing anything in WMP. I installed that first then the DiVx 5 and VIOLA!!!

Best place i know to get the download is

www.doom9.org

From there click the download link on the left panel, and scroll down to Codecs click the link for DiVx 3.11 Alpha and u should be good. You may want to reinstall your later versions of divx after that, not sure. If you have any questions email me
