Hi,
When I turn on visualizations in WMP 10, the sound comes out distorted. (I've tried other media players, and they don't do this.) One of the suggestions I've run across is to turn of the equalizer, via the WPM 'tools' menu, but my WMP doesn't have a 'tools' menu. Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks,
...... john

Just a guess!!! Go to the Control Panel > Sound and Audio Devices > Audio tab > Advanced button > Performance tab and try tweaking the 'Hardware acceleration'.

Thanks for your reply Aegis.
I just deleted the second windows directory I had, and that solved the problem.
Thanks,

Hi Aegis,
What happened was that I took an xp installation drive from another computer and installed xp overtop of it in another system. During the installation xp must have saved the old installation as 'windows' and installed the new installation under 'windows.0'. I tried everything I could to stop the distortion, and discovered that with the visualizations off, there was not distortion. I may well have been able to cure it some other way, but I wanted to remove the old intatallation files, (That's another story.) and noticed that, after doing that, I no longer had distortion in media player. So, who knows what actually fixed it??
