hi,
i have a problem with my onBoard soundcard (Creative CT5880) on my "Gigabyte GA-7VRXP" MoBo. The sound ist distorted and scrapes a lot.
it doesn't get better if i am using an "Creative Soundblaster 4.1 Digital".
What i have checked out till now:
- disabled cd-rw burner and dvd
- disabling my 2nd hdd
- disabling the whole usb support
- flashing the MoBo bios
- changing the computer mode under xp from "ACPI PC" to "Standard-PC"
- changing hdd-mode from "ultra-dma" to "pio"! That works, but my system gets really slow with that. ;(Anybody an idea?
Regards

Try to change the Hardware Acceleration from Full to Basic in Advanced Audio Properties and see whether this will help.

hi globul,
this helped to reduce the distortion a lot, but there are a few beeps left.
but if the cpu is used a lot, the sound is distorted again.
thx alex

My computer goes to a black screen somtimes during the splash screen and when I open outlook express or anything that seems to be dealing with the video card. It restarts sometimes instead of a black screen. Any ideas?
