Comment: I have Win XP SP2 and I've installed the newest ffdshow codecs (ffdshow-rev944_20070220_xxl.exe). I have no other codecs installed, and regardless of the movie player (BSPlayer, or Windows Media Player), I receive distorted sounds for every .avi, .wmv or other movie formats. Tell me please, could be a codec issue, or what? If it is so, what other codecs package should I use instead of this ffdshow to correct the sound incident? Thank You very much... Cata34

Reply: (edit)Try going to WMP Tools, Options, Devices, select Speakers, Properties and choose the sound device not currently selected. Hopefully when you arrive there you will find that it is set to use the Default so you can choose to change it to your sound card device instead. HTH Bryan
