Ok so heres what I did. I installed and used a third party XP tweaker and one of the options i chose was to disable desktop's from being changed as my computer is used by five other people all with their own desktops and to keep the computers memory from being taxed with a whole lot of 'pretty' XP themes I had desktop theming disabled. Since then I have changed my mind ( a womans perogative) and tried to reverse the setting. Well it worked for every other user except me. When I right click on my desktop and choose properties I get the display properties dialoge box but its empty, no options whatsoever. I cant change the resolution, add wallpaper or screensavers etc but all other (limited) users can. Im set as the administrator but still I have no properties for display. I have tried to access them thru the control panel, same deal, I have uninstalled the programmes that I used to get myself in this mess too. I tried system restore but as I have just recently installed some windows update patches, including sp2 all my restore points prior to that have disappeared. So will some one please tell me how I can restore my display properties to the default setting when I can access the properties in the first place???
Thanx in advance for all help.

Using System Restore too many times can cause
more harm than good. After doing a restore
that does not fix a problem, then UNDO the
Restoration, and try another restore point, or
just do the UNDO.

Hi rogue_redhead, Xp User, Chuck 2, hello everyone,

rogue_redhead,

Check and see if the following registry keys exist;

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\
Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

In the right pane look for NoDispCPL

Double click on NoDispCPL and change the value from 1 to 0.

Best Regards,
Mesich

rogue_redhead, Go to the link below and scroll down to line 285 right column and download the "Restore All Display Tabs" reg file fix. Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it and answer yes to the import prompt.

I tell you what... you guys are AWESOME:)
Firstly to XpUser, the third party tweakers i used were Tweak UI, System Mechanic and TweakNow Accelerator XP.
Secondly to Chuck2 altho that link was of no help for this issue I learned about using msconfig to restore damaged files which will no doubt come in handy in the future as I am renowned for mucking about on my pc and screwing up (how else do I learn lol).
Next, Mesich I went into the registry and there was no entry called NoDispCPL but what I did discover was this.
NoDispAppearance value=1
NoDispBackgroundPage value=1
NoDispScrSavPage value=1
NoDispSettingsPage value=1
So I knew that a value of "1" enables the entry so I reset them all to "0".
And last but not at all lest.. big props goes to Tufenuf for the link to Kelly's corner. I spent and hour or two on that site last night and didnt see those tweaks. I followed the regedit changes suggested and hey presto I back in business.
You guys are the bomb MMMWWWAAAAAAHHHHH
Thanxs so much dudes
Have an awesome day cos I will now
