Comment:

Today I installed a few of the windows xp powertools, including desktop manager (MSDVM). After fiddling around with the tools for a while, I tried to change my desktop background through my display properties menu.

Now, if I open display properties by right clicking my desktop, the window will stop responding when I click the "desktop" tab. When I look at my processes, it shows that rundll32.exe is taking up 50% of the cpu...

How can I fix this so the desktop tab works again?

Restore your system back to the restore point you made. You remember, the one you made before you started fiddling with the power tools...

I tried restoring to 24 hours before, but that didn't work. The window still stopped responding when I clicked the "desktop" tab.

I then tried restoring to almost a week ago, but the same thing happened.
