Display Properties Desktop Gone Bad

Ok this sucks. I got some wierd trojan or virues I guess. My background got changed automatically and my Desktop options under Display Properties got locked up and all grayed out so I can't change or click anything. Here is a screen shot.

My friends tell me that my disabled and grayed out Display Properties has to do with something in my Registry. But they don't know where else to go from there. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

What sucks? The fact you wasted money on a computer, and spent no time and energy protecting it?
