You would need to install a new video card.

A 16meg video card in that system is a bit underpowered. You should have a video card containing 128meg of ram or greater with those system specs.

in your mother board, which is the big flat thing u see when u first open up your case, there are 2 spots where your video card can go. If it is an agp card it goes into the brown slot with a little lever. It should be between the cpu and the pci slots. If it is pci or pci express it goes into the pci slots which are white stripes(3-5 of them) to get a better idea of where things are refer to manual of your motherboard or something that displays parts of the motherboard.

Another question is this a laptop or desktop? It affects whether a video card can be updated.

Is it integrated video? Maybe there's a bios option to increase the video memory. When booting up, you should see a message saying to hit a key to access BIOS (usually the DEL key, F2, or F10 key)

Since it is a laptop there are only one or two models by any manufacturer that can be replaced with a different card. Almost all are designed for one card only and some of those are part of the motherboard and can't be replaced for repair either. Who makes it and what model is it? I suspect that trying to upgrade it will be either not possible or if it is a model that can be upgraded it will be very expensive (laptop cards are not cheap since they are only for one or two models).
