How can I get the display properties icon to appear in my system tray like it did in Win9x/2k? I find it to be difficult to find out how. Also, when I dial to the internet, how do I shut off the ballon that pops up when I finish connecting to the web? ty

I don't know about the display properties icon, but you can disable all pop-up balloons in the sys tray by using Powertoys XP/ Tweak UI

Make sure you go to downloads page and not the link from the 'powertoys explained' tab as it just takes you to Microsoft. The option you need is under 'taskbar/show balloon tips' in TweakUI.
