For security reasons I had a friend split my drive, so I have a c-drive for XP and programs and a d-drive for files (music, pictures, documents and so on..)

I would like to be able to see folders and access files on the desktop - so I donīt have to go to the d-drive all the time, so I created shortcuts on the desktop.

1) Is this the best way to organize my stuff?
2) I found that I delete all the files on the d-drive, if I delete them in the shortcuts..can I avoid this? (The files are not deleted if I instead delete the shortcut itself)
3) My friend told me to move "documents" to the d-drive, however this seems impossible?

I just want a totally safe way to store my files and still be able to work easily on the desktop...

Hope someone can explain me the best way to do it...

Thanks a lot from Uffe (Denmark)

You can change your My Documents path by clicking on START, and then right click on My Documents and go to properties. As far as desktop goes, I don't know anyway to change the path. Desktop=Desktop and that's that.
