Hello again :D
I previously had a problem of installing windows xp / 2000 on my new ATA100 because it wouldn't see its true size, but that is fixed now. Once I install it from the cd (copying files, etc) and it is supposed to go into the GUI interphase (after the first reboot) it gives me the:
"Disk Error. Press any key to restart" or something along those lines.
this happens with both Windows 2000 and Windows XP installations (note: that i'm installing on a ATA100 drive).Any ideas anyone?

only true way to find out is, try installing on a udma33/ata33 or udma66/ata66 drive. if it works fine on them, then hey, you've found the problem.
another thing, did you hook the ide cable up to an upgrade card or straight to the MB. if you hooked it up to the MB, tehn go downlaod the latest bios files from teh manufacturer. If you hooked it up to the card, then hook it back up to the MB and try that.
good luck buddy

I did hook it up to a ata66 drive and it works fine. but whats the problem? and how can I fix it?
The drive is straight on the motherboard (Asus A7V), I do have the latest bios, and the latest promise drivers.
hmm

Another note is that I can install Windows 9x or ME and everything works fine. But this happens when I try to install Windows 2000 Pro or Windows XP Pro (NT based systems I guess).
And I kind of need 2000 or XP at the least
:D

haha ok i see i see. then its the OS and hardware (HD) . hmm go to the Microsoft page, and download the new update files. That'll mostly fix almost everything.
and what are promsie drivers? i dunt know what your talking about unless thats the drivers for the HD. if it is, then tell ms and bich at em for a long time. If you haven't DL the latest divers for the HD then go do so.
what type of HD is it anyways?
