While trying to install Windows XP on a new computer I mistakenly tried to partition a disk drive with a partition size of zero. The system didn't seem to like that (it froze up) so I rebooted. When I deleted the botched partition while trying to install again the drive 'disappeared' or something. The drive doesn't show up under the hard disk listing in My Computer. The device manager says that the disk drive is "enabled" and working properly but when I click on 'populate' in Volumes it says that the Disk is "Unknown," "Unreadable," and has a capacity of zero. What do you think is going on here?

Hey
I'm not sure of how many partitions you have, but if you right click my computer and choose manage and then go to disk management you can partition free space in XP.
(Other than the one you are installed on, or C: if you are installed on another.)
This is the like partition magic.
You can partition any other HD attached or drive that is not in use.
HOPE I helped

Yeah, thanks for the tip but strangely enough the disk drive doesn't show up/isn't accessible via disk management. (The other disk drive that I had already partitioned does). Does anyone else have any ideas?

Try a Win 98 disk with fdisk. Boot with the Win98 disk and fix it manually.
