Hi, I defragmented my C drive and then analysed it straight after it had finished...it said that i should defragement the drive even after the defrag had finished successfully! I even tried defragmenting with a 3rd party application (power defrag) and analysed the c drive again...it said i still needed to defrag the drive??? Any suggestions? Thanks

Where is your "PageFile" situated? If it's on the C drive that could have some bearing on the analysis. Lessons learnt the hard way are not easily forgotten.

Have you tried Defrag in Windows Safe-Mode ? This option uses a minimal set of device drivers and services to start Windows. And alot fewer Processes running in the background.

Also in Safe-Mode, do all of these in same order- Description of the Disk Cleanup Tool in Windows XP Another thing I notice that is taking up space is EVENT VIEWER logs. Go into Event Viewer then right click each catagory (System, Security, and Application), then click "Clear all events". When Prompted to Save, do not save. --------------------- Also check all the files in C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch The Prefetch folder is quite large. I have deleted all files there, even Layout.ini, at times without problems.
