disk cleanup not working

When I try to use disk clean up it starts scannining my C drive for old stuff but never finishes. It only goes up about three loading bars and just sits there. I left it on all night and it stayed at three bars. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks

Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK. Locate and then click the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\VolumeCaches\Compress Old Files
On the Edit menu, click Delete. When prompted to "Confirm Key Delete," click Yes. Quit Registry Editor.

Try doing it in Windows Safe-Mode. No programs or drivers running in there.

After doing some research I saw that I wasnt the only one with this same problem. Sorry that I posted before using the search button (I should know better). da_mainman, I hope thats not your answer to everyone with a problem. Everyone else, thanks for the positive feedback. The regedit thing worked like a charm.
