Solve this one and I'll give you a huge cookie!

I got a comp from my pops with; Windows XP, 1800+ ghz, GeForce3 ti500, 516 ram, 40 gb hd, creative sb audigy platinum ex the works. I play games and share files.

One day I decided to scan my harddrive with all my stuff on it for viruses on "trendmicros housecall" when it turned up I had lots of viruses. It gave me the option to delete them all, of course I did so. However, when I rebooted I got DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER. So I put in boot disks to try and reinstall windows XP. Didnt work. Then I tryed taking out all my disks and restarting... Didnt work.

Then I tryed taking out the crapy harddrive and putting in a brand new one THAT DIDNT WORK! Im not exactly sure how to take the crapy hard drive onto another computer to make it a slave but why would it matter if I cant even access my comp with a brand new one, cause I dont care about formatting the harddrive. I JUST WANT MY COMP BACK.

Reinstall the old hard drive and run a Repair Install. The should allow for recovering the previous data while repairing the OS.

A crude site, but the instructions are informative:
Repair Install

At the page, scroll down to How to run a Repair Install.

It sounds like the Boot.ini files is corrupted. Do what LL suggests.
