Basically, I'm on a limited account and my privilages will be revoked if I install firefox. So, is there a way to somehow hide firefox from the admin? (and in add/remove programs?)

Cheers,
Jim

Since it will write many things in various areas of your computer and the cache can be examined by administrators, I would suggest you had better not try it.

But you could try to educate the admins of the benefits of Firefox (faster loading, less security risks etc.)

They may or may not listen, but at least you won't put yourself in jeopardy.

Portable Firefox is a fully functional package of Firefox optimized for use on a USB key drive.

of this works from any location on your hard drive too. no installation, just unzip and run the executable.

From windows Help & Support:
"The limited account is intended for someone who should be prohibited from changing most computer settings and deleting important files. A user with a limited account:

Cannot install software or hardware, but can access programs that have already been installed on the computer."

If the standalone portable FFOX works for you then well & good but use it at your own risk. If this is a work PC then admin will know what you're doing. It is likely there are firewalls in place that will need to be configured to allow the prog internet access. Doing so will immediately raise a red flag. If this is a parental control thing then only you can gauge the consequences of getting sprung.

I used to have a signature but it disappeared and I just couldn't be bothered writing another so please feel free to ingore this.

its also possible that the admin could be using a program to not let it run anyway. if its at a company or school.
