Subject: Disconnect crash causes XP to hang OS: Microsoft Windows XP HomeCPU/Ram: Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.20G |
Comment: Hello, I connect to the internet using a BT Voyager ADSL modem and my ISP is BT Broadband. When I connect an icon (2 computers - you know the one) appears in the taskbar, providing information about the connection. After prolonged use of the internet, it crashes if I try to disconnect. This is a real issue for my system, because the crash always causes XP to shutdown incorrectly and hang on 'Saving Your Settings...' which means I have to forcibly turn off my expensive laptop everytime I want to shut it down! Anyone have ideas on how to resolve this problem?

Reply: (edit)Whenever I have problems with my DSL, and it can't or won't go online, I go to the Control Panel and click on the Network setup screen and basically, reinstall it. This has always worked for me, and I hope it always does. The reason? I don't know. But maybe this will help you, too. Good luck. Bob
