I installed a brand new win xp professional sp3 OS on a pc, no issues, all software performs perfectly. Then I proceed to install Google desktop, and the first thing that happens after the first reboot is the disappearance of my quick launch taskbar.

In case you haven't yet: Right click an empty space on the Task Bar > Select Toolbars > Quick Launch.
Also go to http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_... and try #61 on the right.

My original message was a bit longer, but I posted incorrectly and could not edit afterwards. This part was missing:
No matter what I do (registry settings and so on, as per google search on this issue), every time after reboot, the quick launch taskbar is not there anymore. I can set it back, and everytime after relog or reboot it is gone. When I uninstall Google desktop the problem is gone.
Of course I would like to keep Google desktop, but no way I want a disappearing quick launch taskbar. Any suggestions? Thanks for the inputs, I will try this right now and report back.

To aegis: I know how to get the quick launch bar to appear. It does that too, but as you can see in the missing part of my message, my problem is that after every reboot or relog it disappears. And Kelly's corner I have visited; that is part of all the "googling" I had done on the subject. Kelly was of no help.
I will however follow-up on the first poster, as it indeed seems to be a known issue with Google. I will get back as soon as I have some results.
