Hello,

I got a new Toshiba Satellite and realized that it had a built in PCI Wifi card. So, I looked at my old Satellite and saw that it had the same switch. I had been using a DLink card for Wifi in the old laptop.

So, I don't see the internal "Toshiba Wireless LAN Mini PCI Card" listed in my device manager and I cannot figure out how to locate it. Switching the "Toshiba Wireless LAN Mini PCI Card" to "on" doesn't help ;-D

Does anybody have any ideas about how I might locate the device and activate it... short of reinstalling windows xp and praying that it's recognized with the fresh install?

Thanks,

Not sure. May be disabled in BIOS. Go in there, and enable.

Hi Peter,
Did you find out the wireless pci card or the wireless indicator ?I have a satellite model and was wondering the same thing! I too have been using an external card! :)

I had a feeling that it was there only for the upgrade facility.

Thanks,
Neha

in Windows xp's device manager, go to VIEW/show Hidden devices you should see it in network adapters...

I don't think you have the Hardware i believe you think you do! If the front "switch" doesn't glow "amber" when on, you need to purchase the module. Toshiba go figure.
PS: if you see the drivers for "toshiba Wirless LAN Mini PCI card - packet scheduler miniport" it only means it was preloaded so when you buy the module its ready to go!
Good luck,
CoR
