Go into Administrative Tools - Services and double click "IMAPI CD Burning" and set to disabled. I'm not at my XP machine right now so I'm doing this from memory. You can get the latest ASPI layer (4.70) at http://www.adaptec.com
ASPI stands for Advanced SCSI Programming Interface (the A used to stand for Adaptec, who originally came up with it). You need it in order for certain software to be able to communicate with your drive.

You can easily disable it by opening Windows Media Player 8. Go to Tools-Options-Devices-
Highlight the CD-RW device and hit the Properties Radio Button-Then click on Recodring tab- Uncheck enable CD recording on this drive-then click on OK

Hi,
I make no promotion, but Nero v.5.5 (latest version) works fine with windows XP. I use it a complement for functions not directly supported by XP.
