How do I disable SOFTWARE from changing the volume from the volume control? Some software really bugs me when I run the software and adjusts the volume unattenently. Windows Media Player 11 always sets the MIDI volume to zero and I don't want it to do that especially when I use other MIDI software to play MIDI files.

I don't think there is anyway to stop them, except not running the program.
Try different players than WMP. For video, 'Media Player Classic' and 'VLC are very popular. 'Winamp' is pretty popular for audio.
