Double click My Computer. Click Tools, Folder Options, View tab. At the bottom (in Advance settings:) is
Use simple file sharing.
If its there and you can uncheck it, then you can disable it.

It's not on my WinXP home edition install. And just why would it not be present by the way?
I have to say that coming from the Unix world, I'm very confused by how windows xp handles file and folder access. I'd give a million bucks right now for chmod u+rwx :-)
