2 nights ago i was using yahoo messenger then all of a sudden 2 people i don't know were attempting to get my shared files so i refused, sat for a mo thinking about it then decided to disable my connection thru the icon in the notification area. All seemed well until i tried to disable again a few hours later & it would not let me disconnect saying
"This connection maybe using one or more protocols that do not support plug-and-play, or it may have been initiatated by another user or the system account".
I eventually traced it down to an svchost in taskmanager, the svchost is for audio. If i disable it i get no sound or audio devices working but am able to disconnect from the internet. Ran ad-aware, avg virus scan, hijack this & all clear.
Anyone have any suggestions as to what might be attached to this scvhost.I patiently await any replies.
Thankyou

Hi
I think psissably the best thing you can do is to use the roll back feature. Go to start accessories sytem tools and then roll back then select any date before your problem started.
Then reboot the computer. See if this oslves the problem if not try a repairs install.

Says: "No driver files have been backed up for this device". I have uninstalled & reinstalled.
Thanks robyn, (i should have thought of that). Is Ye Alreet

Have also noticed there's about 5 seconds extra time before the taskbar & desktop load, i'm thinking maybe trojan or worm.

hi, the W32.Welchia.Worm in most cases is named as, svchost.exe!!! i don't think this is your case because your antivirus software would have detected it. i think your computer just needs a little tweaking. try cleaning out the temp files, cookies, etc. also, disable those programs that are running in the background that you don't need.
if you would like further info about this worm that is sometimes named after an svchost go here:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/ms04-011.mspx
ps. don't disable any of the svchost.exe processes that are running. you should have more than one. another thing you can do is go to microsoft updates and check for any critical ones you might need. i strongly recommend good firewall software if your going to be messing around with those p2p and file sharing networks. thanks!!!

Thanks for the reply ibot, i ended up doing a format & reinstall just to be on the safe side.
