Your kids are probably smarter than you when it comes to tweaks to remove their browsing history. Do you use a router to share internet connection? I used to have one that logged every URL visited by each user and would email me the logs on a periodic basis. Did'nt need to install anything or tweak anything in the kids' PC. I told the kids that the log existed and that I was monitoring their use.

Just need to have a good strong password on the router admin login. That router was a netgear FWG114P. Unfortunately for me it failed and I replaced it with a D-link. It only logs the DHCP data, not the traffic. It was two years later before my kids found out I was no longer logging their activity.
