I recently bought 2 games that require DirectX 9 to play. When I try to update my DirectX I get an error that says it failed the Windows Logo Testing. I've tried updating DirectX by downloading it and from the CD. I'm positive I was downloading the XP version of DirectX but no luck. I have no idea what to even try and I could find nothing to help me on Microsoft.com.
Please any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi
Have you run dxdiag from a command prompt ? What version does it show when you run that? Any error messages would be helpful.

I ran dxdiag and I came up with a few problems. I am also using DirectX 8.1 (4.08.01.0810).
Under display I encountered one error. The tests were successful with no problems but it does say this also:
The file nv4_disp.dll is not digitally signed, which means that it has not been tested by Microsoft's Windows Hardware Quality Labs. You may be able to get a signed driver from the manufacturer of the hardware device.
Most of the problems are in the Network tab. I get these errors in the Notes box:
The registry information for the service provider 'DirectPlay8 TCP/IP Service Provider' is missing or damaged.
The registry information for the service provider 'DirectPlay8 IPX Service Provider' is missing or damaged.
The registry information for the service provider 'DirectPlay8 Modem Service Provider' is missing or damaged.
The registry information for the service provider 'DirectPlay8 Serial Service Provider' is missing or damaged. Also there is one more problem in the Network tab. When I click the Test DirectPlay button I get this error:
DxDiag has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Here is some of the technical information in the error report:
AppName: dxdiag.exe AppVer: 5.1.2600.0 ModName: kernel32.dll
ModVer: 5.1.2600.0 Offset: 00017feeIf there is any more information you need please let me know.

Try downloading the latest drivers for both video card and sound card, failing that, i would say you have a direct x corruption problem, which is not good, usually involves a reinstall of windows to fix.
