I tried to install cakewalk plasma 2003 onto my computer but it says that i need to install directx 8.1. So i downloaded directx and installed it but it doesn't seem to have installed onto my computer as when I go back to install cakewalk plasma 2003 it again says that i need to install directx 8.1. This problem also happens with cakewalk sonar.

Try downloading the latest version from microsoft, I think it's like 9b or something like that. I think Win XP came with 8.1,but I'm not 100% sure.

Chrissy,
The newest version of DirectX is 9.0b. It has a bug fix - no worries, you can't download it from MS without the fix. Anyway, after you download it (it's pretty heafy sized 8-10 Meg) and it completes, go to the start button / run... and type dxdiag
This tests Direct X to be sure it's installed correctly. If it's all cool, then you can install the cakewalk. (what is that anyway?)
