Hii all.. i am not able to install directx 9.0c on my PC. I downloaded the redistributable, and when i run it, it completes within few seconds telling that the file transfer is complete. When i open dxdiag, it still shows directx 9.0b. And under the notes section, for directx files, it tells that "the qasf.dll is an old version, and may cause problems". Thats the only error. There is no other problem. What might be causing it? How to install directx 9.0c. This is a problem which i notice a long time back. But today i was installing nero 7, and it requires directx 9.0c. While installing nero 7, it gives the following error: custom action dll crashed on last call in function "NeroAg_UnregisterComEx". The installer must now exit. Crash Thread ID 3376 Current Thread ID 3460 I think this may be because of the directx version. Any ideas? Thanks Anupam

After you downloaded it, did you run the install. I don't think the redistributable installs automatically.

It appears you need to have WGA (windows genuine advantage) installed.

I think this may be because of the directx version. I doubt it.

LOL aegis... of course i ran the install.. hehhe. It runs, but within seconds finishes, saying that it has completed, but the directx version does not changes.. its still 9.0b Well, nero 7 requires directx 9.0c on the PC.. so i guess maybe thats causing a problem. Coz before installation, it tells to install directx 9.0c , and its there on the nero cd too, but its the same problem, 9.0c does not get installed. I am thinking of uninstalling directx 9.0b by using directx uninstaller. I hope its safe.. wish me luck ... lol Thanks Anupam

I repeat, you must have WGA installed in order to run that file. Do you have WGA installed?

Also, I think System Restore must be enabled in order to install dx 9+.
