When i try to update my DirectX to version 9 midway through installing i keep getting an error which says:
"Directx did not copy required file"
when it is trying to copy the "qdvd.dll" file. Can anyone make sence of this? and if so could you help me install it without probs?
Try downloading the DirectX 9 file again, the one you have may be corrupted. Before running the installation though open the Run box and enter sfc /scannow to correct any possible file errors on your system. Then disable your anti virus program and close all windows, then install DX9.

I had the same problem and a guy from Microsoft was kind enough to help me out through an online forum. The trick was to make the dxba.inf and dxxp.inf in the case of WinXP and dxnt.inf in the case of Win2K not read only as they are by default and then reinstall the DirectX 9.0a update.
