Comment:

I recently installed directx 10 on xp it made alot of problems for me so i looked for a way to delete it, the only way I could find was to delete the directx files. I went to regedit/HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software then deleted the files. Now I cant install directx 9 and im pretty sure its because I deleted the directx folders. Does anybody know how I can fix this and get the folders back. These are the errors I got when I tried to reinstall it.

Try a restore point to a date before you did all that.

I agree with Guapo. You probably can't install DX9 because your Registry says you have DX10 installed. Doing a System Restore will restore the Registry that says you have DX9.

If you are unable to get DirectX back via System Restore, try reinstalling DX10, then deal with the problems that result.

This may not work because you deleted Registry Keys, I assume you did not Backup the Registry first.

Try reinstall in Safe Mode.

You may need to run a Repair install of XP or run SFC/scannow, both require a WinXP CD or ACER Restore CD.

Contact ACER Support if you do not Have Restore CD's or know how to run SFC/scannow on your ACER

It's possible you Downloaded DX10 for Vista. Here's a link to DX10 for WinXP.

There is nothing to learn from someone who already agrees with you.
