For some reason, I can't test direct 3d with windows xp. Whenever I click the test button, it says "You cancelled the test by pressing a key"..when in reality I never touched anything. Also, my games that require direct 3d sometimes prefer not to run. (they open, then minimize to the desktop) I've re installed the OS many times, re installed my games, downloaded the latest vid card drivers and xp updates, but still nothing. I've even re formated my drive and started a fresh install, but no luck. Why would this be happening? Somebody help!!! I'm guessing I need a new vid card..but I don't know. (I'm currently using a Riva TNT2 M64 32MB card...kinda a crapper, but it hasn't given me probs yet)

Oh ya...I've used Burnin' Test Pro to test all my system hardware, and it all passes. The video card passes all tests with flying colors.

Justin, what are your system specs? Like what kind of motherboard and stuff.

I had lots of probs with a motherboard that uses VIA chipssets. It would not recognise and install the AGP portion, so my video card was very slow and had strange problems.

You can try and go to Start->Run, and type DXDIAG and run that. Then select the Display tab, and look near the bottom for something called AGP Texture Acceleration. It should be enabled, if not and you're using an AGP video card, then you have problems.

Right-click My Computer and go properties Hardware and then the Device Manager. Double-click System Devices and look somewhere in there for AGP. You should have some type of device like PCI to AGP or something. If you're not using an AGP video card, then I guess this wouldn't help.

I'm just mentioning this cause it seems to be a big problem me and others have had.
