At my work ,a jewelry shop ,they want to list some of their custom pieces on EBAY, because Iam the one who uses the internet the most ,they want me to be in charge on listing items for sale on EBAY and acouple of other web sites for selling items online. I have very little knowledge of picture taking and posting etc. however I know EBAY has a online tutorial and I plan of going there and going thru it. However the owner is pressuring me to give her a model # and brand name and of course a price on a camera to buy A.S.A.P. like this Monday ? Of course wants to spend a little as possible and mentioned a price range of $250 ? Any suggestions, or link greatly appreciated ! This woulds have to be a camera thats good with close up pictures and keep in mind the reflective nature of jewelry items ! Wishing everyone a great holiday weekend
Take Care Nick

For Ebay pics, you can purchase a 2.0 megapixel camera anywhere for a very reasonable price, easily within your specs. I use an Olympus D 20-20 zoom. It has a Macro feature which allows you to shoot close ups up to 3" away. Something along this line would be more than adequate. Posting the pics to Ebay is very easy. Just save them to your computer and when you list an item, just click the link on the ebay page to insert the pic. Try your local stores first, like Circuit City etc. Don't let them sell you a more expensive camera. A 2.0 to 3.0 megapixel will do fine. Good Luck

Hello Nick... When I bought my first digital camera last year, I found the website above to help me immensely. There are tons of comparisons from all the manufacturer's, and even test shots so you can view extreme close-ups taken with the macro settings; which is what you would want for your pics of jewelry items. Quite a bit of info on that website....

I'd adhere to the good advice from grasshopper too; don't get pushed into purchasing more than what you want or need.
Hope this helps a little; take care!
