Had this problem with windows 2000. The work around is to create a shortcut to your dialup connection and use it to launch your connection instead of IE.

Win2000 & Win XP encrypt your password for security reasons. It always looks twice as long as it actually is.

To clarify...

The problem i had with windows 2000 was that the encrypting was buggy. Each time i would enter the correct password and choose to save it.. the next time i tried to connect i received an invalid password error. I was not able to find a real solution to this. Someone suggested to me that i create a shortcut to the dialup connection and that solved the problem.

I actually do have a shortcut on my desktop and it says my username and in password: [To change the saved password, click here] and it still connects to the wrong one.
I can't even change it in Internet Options/Connections

Make sure in the properties for the location, you have selected Allow Unsecured Password, then clear the password out of the dial up location, clear it out of the internet properties box (you know which one I am talkin about), then re-start. Enter the password and connect. This is a quick fix that work 90 percent of the time. have all fields blank, restart, then connect.

here is the extended fix. if your password is sent thru encrypted, and it is more then a certain amount of characters long (in most cases 14) it will reject your logon. Have your provider change your password to a 4 character password and the encryption will not be as long and this has worked in every instance I have came across as an IT.
