Dial up noise with AOL

Does anyone know of a way to stop the dial up screeching when dialling AOL? I have put different strings in to stop it with other ISP's, but they dont work with AOL. Please can you help??

Hi Go to Control Panel >> Phone and Modem Options On the Modems tab, highlight your modem and select Properties. On the Modem tab, adjust your speaker volume to Off and click OK. HTH In the land of the blind the one eyed man is king

What version of AOL... If version 9...turn it off from the setup screen BEFORE sign-on...
