I am using a dial up modem and once I am done and diconnect from the internet. About a minute or so later it trys to dail out on its own. I have gone into Internet Option and checked "never dial a connection" but it keeps wanting to dial out. I have checked everything that I know. Any help on this would be greatfull

It could be that the automatic update in windows xp is trying to access the net. Try to find out if one of you programs try to use the net. One way of maybe stopping this is to get a firewall and get it to stop all network activity... assuming you are not running on a network...

Go to IE tools/internet options/advanced and make sure the option to automatically check for IE updates is turned off. Otherwise, there is something trying to access the internet. Do an inventory of your programmes to check for any likely culprits.
Go to start/run and type MSCONFIG. Check the start up tab for any possible culprits.
