Comment:

My system seems to be blocked (at session startup) by a cpu-consuming process. In task manager, performance tab, the cpu is idle, but I found no explanation for the system to be blocked (the pointer becomes a sandclock when going down onto the "Startup" bar

Any idea on that, please?
thanks

Reply:

corrupt registry entry - download and run a regleaner

bad startup program - use msconfig to stop all startup programs and load one at a time until you find the culprit.

spyware loading - check with spybot/adaware
