My destop documents and files were all gone somehow when I turn the pc on again. Even the wallpaper changed back to default. However, the programs remained. When I checked the c drive, the memories did not increase, so I believe the missing files are somewhere in the computer? But when I use the search button, I could not find any of the files. Is there anyway to get those files back? I have some important school files that I need to get back. Thanks. ps: I remember the laptop itself did some kind of disc check itself when I turn it on, but when I come back after 5 mins, I notice all my files are gone except the programs.

yes no problem i can fix this in 3 easy steps 1. Try rightclick on desktop arrange icons by then find show desktop icons make sure it is checked if not checkit and your iocons will reapear 2. Checker Explorer.exe is running by clicking Control Alt and Delte and then click tab over the the tab called prosesses and make sure Explorer.exe is running if it is not there then i will talk you though that sepratley 3. load cmd by clicking start > Run > CMD in cmd type cd desk* then enter this changes the location to the desktop type dir/b/ah this shows all hidden files and folders on the desktop if hidden i will talk you though how to get it back up again pm me a sealbs2391@yahoo.co.uk if all has falied and i will send you a email or Cd that recovers lost files and folders and documets alsong wilth many programs as well it recovers loads and it checks for problems on the pc it is a good program i will pass it on if nessesry and get all work back besk of luck any more help you know my email address to exit cmd type exit or click the X

thx a lot. it's all okay now. i believe manually shutting down the computer caused the window to hide those files.
