My computer was running very slow and I looked up on how to make it run faster by deleting a few things that I did not use. I read that you did not need several browers so I deleted Internet Explorer as I don't use it. well since I have done that, I can not get my desktop to load. the Dell logo and windows xp logo loads then it goes to a blank screen with the cursor. I tried to boot up using the safe mode and all the other suggestions under it and did not have any luck. then I read in a forum that windows xp will not load with internet explorer. Is this where I messed up?

sstafford, SWAG, I may be all wet, but it's my understanding that IE is used to display things regardless of whether you use the IE browser. Reinstall? Is it there if you restore?
You may need to use another machine to get it and make a CD for installation on yours.
