Desktop shortcuts on XP Home

I'm having difficulty creating shortcuts to websites from my Win XP Home desktop. Having accessed the sites, I used the 'File > Send > Shortcut to desktop' facility. The icon appears on the desktop, but when I click on it, it doesn't work.
It works fine on my other XP Pro machine. Is this a problem with XP Home, or a setting on my PC???

Never tried that. Usually I just add links to my favourits (bookmarks in Firefox) list and not clutter up desktop.

Try just dragging and dropping the little icon next to the address of the site in the address bar to the desktop and see if that works for you. But I, like Richard59 said, just bookmark the site also, as it greatly reduces the clutter.
