I am looking for a simple way to make a desktop shortcut from a dos prompt.

I know C:\"Documents and Settings\%username%\Desktop\" will put whatever you copy to the current users desktop, but how do you create a desktop shortcut from an *exe? Or point it to an *.exe.

Shortcut (DOS command) does not work in XP.

You can not use MS-DOS Commands (no MS-DOS SubSystem) you need to use NT COMMAND PROMPT Commands:
