I am having a problem with my desktop. The background comes up, along with "My Documents", but I do not get any icons, nor the taskbar.

Actually, scratch that. This is on my sisters computer, and I am on my parents computer right now. Going back and forth between them. I've done a spyware scan, and got rid of a good bit of malware. I have also downloaded "Hijack This!", but haven't run it yet.
This kind-of makes me wish I had brought my own computer back home from college with me!

Justine, Go to the link below and scroll down to line 195(right column) and download the "Restore Desktop Icons and Taskbar" .vbs file. Save it to your hard drive (you may want to right click and use Save Target As). Double
click the vbs file. You will be prompted when the script is done.
"NOTE: If your anti-virus software warns you of a "malicious" script, this is normal if you have "Script Safe" or similar technology enabled. These scripts are not malicious, but they do make changes to the System Registry".

If the My Documents folder is opening at startup scroll down to Line 255 (right column)and download the "My Documents Folder Opens Upon Boot (for C:\)" reg fix. Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it and answer yes to the import prompt.

Restore Desktop Icons and Taskbar & My Documents Folder Opens Upon Boot Fixes

Note: I'm assuming that the problem machine is running Windows XP.
