Desktop Keeps refreshing

My computer is slowing down and things seems to open slowly then before. Also I constantly notice that my desktop icons keep refreshing every few minutes or everytime I open and close some application windows or folders.

Does anyone know what could be the reason behind this & what I should check and troubleshoot to resolve this.

what all do you have loaded up in the background? sounds like you've got heaps of visual stuff running thats taking up a big chunk of vram.
