I have been trying various programs to tweak xp. It seems one of them has locked my desktop. I can customize my desktop from display props but it doesnt show up, all icons are hid, i have no 'right click'. I can't find the culprit in the registry or anywhere else. Please send email if you know how to fix this. thanx.

Well after alot of frustration and two hours of searching the web, an unrelated Tweak UI error solution pointed me to the registry key that disabled my desktop.
Under the key Hkey_current_user/software/microsoft/windows/current-version/policies/explorer I found a key titled NoDesktop with a value of 1. I backed up my registry and then deleted the key.
